Faith Formation is responsible for the sacramental programs of Reconciliation (Confession) and Eucharist (Communion) for the parishes of St. Michael’s and St. Mary’s. Faith Formation and St. Croix Catholic School, along with students in home school programs that wish to participate, form these sacramental programs. Classes and preparation for students in older grades is also available. Please call 651-351-3175 for sacramental preparation of students grades 3-6, or if you are the parent preparing your child through a home school program.
Preparing for the sacraments is an exciting time for the entire family. We are happy to be in partnership with you! Your involvement in the preparation of your child to receive First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is very important. Parents are the child’s primary teachers of the Catholic faith and initiation of the child into the sacramental life of the Church. The Eucharist is the greatest gift we have received from Jesus - the gift of himself.
Catechesis for reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist requires at least two years of religious education. The Church of St. Michael and the Church of Saint Mary will follow this two-year sacramental preparation model beginning the first grade year. In addition, parents are encouraged to prayerfully consider enrolling children in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program at the age of three. Read more...
Note: Students making their sacraments (with the exception of SCCS students) enroll in one of the regular Faith Formation sessions Register. If you are already enrolled, do not enroll again. Through your registration, your child is included in our sacramental preparation database. St. Croix Catholic School is automatically added to the sacramental program database from a list we receive from the school and do not register through this site.
First Reconciliation (Confession):
When the perfect union with God and the Church has been ruptured by an act of sin, a Catholic Christian is to be reconciled with God and the community through the sacrament of reconciliation. The early Church referred to this sacrament as a mini-baptism because it returns a person to full union with the Church.
