Men, Join Us Tuesday, February 18, 7-9 p.m., St. Mary’s Great Hall
Monthly meetings call men in the Stillwater parishes into community, formation, and equip them for discipleship and mission. We gather to build fraternity and to zealously live the Catholic faith. The topics will have an explicit focus that relates to masculine spirituality, particularly that of fatherhood, and being a Watchman. Gatherings consist of social time, presentation, small group discussion, and prayer.
The next gathering will be Tuesday February 18th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in St Mary’s Great Hall. Fr. Patrick McCorkell, S.J., will be presenting on ‘The Daily EXAMEN’. Fr. McCorkell is the Director of the Jesuit Retreat House in Lake Elmo. He is an accomplished educator, spiritual director, and retreat master, guiding thousands of men in the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The Daily EXAMEN is a technique of prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to detect God’s presence and discern his direction for us. The EXAMEN is an ancient practice in the Church that can help us see God’s hand at work in our whole experience. The method presented here is adapted from a technique described by Ignatius Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises. St. Ignatius thought that the EXAMEN was a gift that came directly from God, and that God wanted it to be shared as widely as possible. With the EXAMEN, we look back on the previous day, rummaging through the “stuff,” and finding God in it. Father’s presentation will use the methods and insight of St. Ignatius for reflecting on the day, followed by a question and answer period and personal witness. You will not want to miss this one!
