Memorare

The Memorare
Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who
fled to thy protection, implored thy help,
or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my mother;
to thee do I come, before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

St. Mary’s newest Women’s Group, Memorare, was formed on May 13, 2008.  The last such group to form at St. Mary’s was in 1980.  The first few meetings drew about 24 attendants and focused on the formation and direction of those wanting to come together as well as deciding on a name for this community of women.  The overwhelming response was to remain as one group and not to split into several smaller groups.  The great diversity of interests, talents, age and stage of life created a wonderful resource of women.  The common thread weaving through everyone was the deep devotion to Mary; hence the name “Memorare:.  There are many directions the group is going, including service work at the church and involvement with the Wild Rice Festival, outreach and support to families among our parish community and a variety of spiritual and social activities.  All of these wrapped up together are aimed to stimulate and nurture spiritual growth and sense of self of the women of Memorare.  Watch the bulletin for upcoming event and activities for this group.
