John Paul II Players
John Paul II Players is an idea that grew out of a desire to support families in the new Millennium. Our Holy Father encouraged us as lay people to live out our personal vocations by bringing Christian and gospel-based moral values into the workplace and culture. John Paul II knew that if we are to survive an almost completely consumer-based society, we must create a faith culture within the secular culture. Our Faith provides us with the tools to build a faith-based culture where families can enjoy wholesome activities together and where individuals can be in a safe and prayerful environment. We wish to follow in the footsteps of Pope John Paul II by standing firm in our beliefs, while welcoming all who wish to partake in our ministries. In doing so, we will act as Christ for others, by sharing our talents, our gifts, both spiritual and material, and be a loving presence for those in need of guidance and prayer.
Who is involved in this theater arts ministry?
John Paul II Players is open to all parishioners from the tri-parishes and all students and faculty of SCCS.
Where do the JPII Players rehearse and perform?
Although we have been a touring theater arts ministry since 2000, we are a new ministry here in Stillwater and will be using the social hall at St. Mary’s Church for our rehearsals and some of our productions. We will also be touring our performances to other parishes and schools throughout the year.
How can I or my child audition for a specific production?
We will post audition notices in the bulletin one month before we cast each show.
I am not an actor or director, can I still be involved in JPII Players?
Yes! There are many roles you can take in this new and exciting ministry. Anyone who is interested in evangelizing through the arts can be involved in a myriad of ways. We will also be asking for volunteers to fill various roles in back stage production work, lighting, sound, set-building, costume design, and marketing.
