Marriage

We are a parish of many families and we aim to support those families in their married life from the first days of planning their wedding until they enter retirement together.  Fr. Brian Lynch is our Director of Weddings.

Letter from Fr. Brian Lynch
One of the ministries I am excited about is marriage preparation.  Fr. Miller and I want to offer excellent marriage preparation and beautiful weddings for our parishioners and their family members.  We are blessed with a number of tremendous resources that allow us to offer these, including talented staff members, dedicated volunteers, and beautiful churches. There are two concrete wayin which you can assist Fr. Miller and I in offering these services:

Know, understand, and be able to explain to family members and friends that Catholics who desire to remain “in communion with” (that is, “in good standing with”) the Catholic Church must prepare for their wedding with a priest or deacon working in his official capacity as a representative of the Catholic Church.

Issues of divorce, annulment, and marriage are complicated.  Rather than sharing partial and imperfect information that may confuse someone facing these issues, the best thing you can do is get the person with questions about marriage, divorce, and annulment to talk directly to a priest or deacon.  You might offer to accompany your family member or friend to the meeting with the priest or deacon if that would make it easier for your friend or family member.

At the Church of St. Mary, I am responsible for helping individuals and couples with these issues.  If anyone, parishioner or otherwise, ever has any question about these issues, they are invited to contact me directly  and I will do what I can to help them.

Blessings,
Fr. Brian T. Lynch, Parochial Vicar
