We are in need of catechists!!! Have you thought about becoming a catechist, but have the following thoughts?……… “I’m hesitant to become a catechist because…” I don’t know if I can handle a group of kids. I’m not sure that I have anything to share. I’m not sure that I know just what the Church teaches. I’m afraid I’ll say something wrong. I don’t know if I’ll be able to answer kids’ questions. I’m not that holy…I’m just a regular person. I don’t know if I have the time. I don’t have any formal training to teach. I don’t know if kids will like me I’ve never taught before.
We will not leave you to the lions!
Our Faith Formation team is on hand to provide you with support in classroom management including all lessons, activities, and materials as well as many resources and of course, the Holy Spirit! Come join a team of catechists, parents, that love learning and living their Faith.
Here’s what you need to know:
Lead a small group of children (usually around 10) in learning and living their Catholic Faith. Classes are Wednesday afternoons or evenings 3 times a month beginning in September through May. Preparation time is about 2 hours a week for each lesson. As we plan for the beginning of Faith Formation classes the week of September 17th, we are in need of the following:
Catechists for afternoon sessions – 4:15-5:45 pm and
evening sessions 6:30-8:00 pm
Grades 3, 4, 5 need two catechists for each grade
Don’t want to teach, but would love to assist? We’d love to have you! Assist catechist with classroom needs, materials, helping with projects and assisting children.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: The Montessori Approach to catechesis Level I and Level II training begins in September – March, one Saturday a month. If interested, please call Karen Sisson for details or email at ksisson@sccff.net
